Manage your e-mail user accounts, aliases, and mailing lists
E-mail accounts allow you to send and receive e-mail through our webmail client, your favorite desktop software, or your mobile phone using your domain name.
E-mail aliases (forwarding addresses) are e-mail addresses that route e-mail to other destinations.
Use more than one domain for your e-mail. Domains added as aliases do not have their own e-mail addresses, but share the user accounts and e-mail aliases with the primary domain so that they can be used interchangeably.
Create simple e-mail lists you can send to by just e-mailing a specific address. Although this feature is not integrated with our CRM systems, it is a fast, easy way to create and maintain simple e-mail lists (also known as listservs).
The chat feature allows users on the domain to chat with each another, instantly and securely, right within the webmail interface or by using most third-party chat clients that support the XMPP (Jabber) protocol. Once activated, it can be accessed from either within your email accounts or using a third-party chat client.
Your email accounts now have the option for built-in chat. This can be used by all users of the same domain to keep all communication internal. Any chat client that support this protocol can be used with SmarterMail. This document includes instructions for using Pidgin - the client used by our team within the office.
